Bala Industries

Our place is at unit 65 in the Sidco Industrial Estate. It’s a bit of a drive out to Vennaimalai Post, but this is where all the manufacturing happens. We’ve been in this building for quite a while now. The floors are concrete and usually have a few oil spots here and there. That’s just part of being in an industrial area I guess. We spend most of our time around the machines. It’s loud, and you have to shout sometimes to be heard over the hum of the equipment. We produce different parts and items depending on what folks are asking for that week. It isn't always exciting work. Some days it is just repetitive tasks, making sure every piece comes out the way it’s supposed to. We have a small crew and most of us have been working together for years. We eat lunch together under the shade when it’s too warm inside. The estate gets pretty quiet after six in the evening when most people head home. We usually stay a bit later to finish up the last batch or to prep for the next morning. We don’t do much advertising or anything like that. People usually find us through word of mouth or because they’ve been coming to this estate for decades. It’s just a regular shop where we try to do things right and not make too many mistakes along the way.
