M B Bricks

M B Bricks sits on Plot Number 25, right along the NH 7 on the Bangalore Road. Being on the national highway means there is never a quiet moment. We’ve got trucks and cars zooming past at all hours of the day and night. Right across the road from us is the big Carbide Factory, which is another busy place. D D Padu is the local area, and it’s become quite industrial over the years. Our yard is usually a hive of activity with people loading bricks onto lorries. The dust from the highway mixed with the dust from our own work means everything has a bit of a gray tint to it. We have a small gate that opens up right toward the Bangalore side. It’s a bit tricky for the drivers to turn in when the traffic is heavy, but they are used to it by now. The sun really hits this plot hard, so we don't have much shade except for the small cabin where we keep the ledgers. We just keep our heads down and get the bricks stacked. Some days the wind blows the smoke from the nearby factories our way, but that’s just how it is living on a main industrial road. We’ve been here long enough that most of the local contractors just know where to stop their trucks without even looking at the map. It's a lot of noise, but you stop hearing it after a while. We stay busy enough with the passing trade.
