Our place is a bit out there, located in VPO Sitamai near Taraori. It’s part of the Sitamadh area, which is really known for its farming and the whole rice belt vibe. The company name is Risia Agro Food Andbiotrends Importexport Private Limited, which is quite a mouthful to say when you're answering the phone. We work out of a spot that feels very connected to the ground, literally. Being near the grain markets in Taraori makes sense for an agro-food business like ours. My father, Mangat Ram, is well known around here, so that helps when we’re talking to the locals about seeds or harvests. It’s not like those offices you see in the big cities with glass walls. We have a lot of dust from the road and the sound of tractors passing by all day. Our work involves a lot of checking on crops and dealing with the logistics of moving food items across borders. It is a slow process sometimes, especially when the weather doesn't cooperate or the transport gets delayed at the checkpost. We just take it one day at a time, trying to be honest with everyone we deal with. People stop by for a chat or a cup of water, and that’s just how we do things. It is a simple life and a simple business, really, just focused on what we know best which is the food that comes from this land.
