P.W.D (B&R)

The P.W.D (B&R) office in Karnal is located at 1190-A, Daya Nand Colony. We’ve been sitting in this same building for years, dealing with the roads and buildings around this part of Haryana. It’s a straightforward setup here. We have our main office area where we track all the bridge and road repairs. Some of the desks are a bit old, and the chairs creak, but it works for what we need to do. People from around the colony often see us coming and going in our official vehicles. In India, especially in Haryana, the weather can be tough on the asphalt, so we are usually discussing maintenance. We aren't doing anything fancy; it’s just the basic work of keeping the infrastructure from falling apart. The staff here in Karnal is a mix of older guys who know every street and younger clerks helping with the digital files. We have our tea breaks together and talk about the local news while looking over the project binders. Being in Daya Nand Colony puts us right in the middle of things. We don't spend money on big signs or advertising because everyone knows the P.W.D. is here. It’s just a place where we show up, do the site visits, and handle the paperwork. That is the way it has been for as long as I can remember.
