Neelkanth Rice Mills

We are located on Chiala Road, right near Raman Cinema Road. It’s a busy intersection and the mill sits right in the thick of it. You’ll hear the machines running from a block away when the wind is right. We’ve been milling rice here for quite a while. The building is a bit old and has seen better days, but the inside is where the real work happens. We have a small team of guys who have been with us through thick and thin. We don't really have a set closing time during the peak season; we just stay until the trucks are empty. It’s a lot of sweat and dust, to be honest. We don’t have a fancy showroom or anything like that. People just come to the back to see the stock or talk about prices. We talk to the truck drivers and the farmers every day. It’s how we keep track of what’s going on in the fields. Sometimes we have to stop everything to fix a broken belt or a clogged chute. It’s frustrating, but it’s part of the day. We don't use any complicated systems to track things. We just use our eyes and ears to make sure things are running okay. It’s a simple life, focused on the grain and the weather. We’re just a bunch of regular people working hard in the middle of town. The cinema crowds walk past us every single evening.
