Our shop is Shop No. 1, and we are situated right opposite the Buta Singh Market. It’s a very busy spot near the Meera Gati Chowk. If you stand outside our door, you can see all the trucks and cars coming through the chowk all day long. The market across from us is always full of people, so there is never a dull moment around here. We deal with trading, so there is a lot of coming and going of goods throughout the week. The shop is small but we use every inch of the space for storage and a tiny desk where we keep the ledgers. We don't really have a big staff, just a couple of us who know where everything is kept. Sometimes it’s a bit of a squeeze when a new shipment arrives, but we manage. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we are too busy to worry about that right now. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for the transporters to arrive. It’s a very local way of doing things, relying on people we’ve known for years. We don't spend money on big signs or anything like that. Everyone in this district knows where the Meera Gati Chowk is, so they find us easily enough. It's just a straightforward trading business where we try to keep things simple and clear for everyone involved.
