Behl Traders

Karnal is where we have always been based. Behl Traders is a very simple and straightforward business. We don't have a long, complicated address with floor numbers or specific shop names, we just operate out of Karnal. Everyone around this area knows where the main market sections are anyway. We trade in various types of goods depending on what time of year it is and what people are looking for. It's the kind of business where you get to know your customers by their first names over the years. We don't have a big glass office with air conditioning. It's more of a traditional trading setup that you see in many Indian towns. There are often bags or boxes piled up depending on what we're handling that particular week. It's usually a bit dusty and quite loud with the general sounds of the market and the trucks passing by. We have a small wooden desk where we sit and do the daily accounts. It’s a lot of manual paperwork, but we manage to keep it all organized. We aren't looking to become some massive company. We just like being traders here in Karnal. It’s what we know and what we are good at. The days are usually quite long, starting early in the morning when the sun comes up. We drink a lot of chai and talk to the other local traders about prices and market trends.
