Oriental Granites And Crushers

Out on Hiriyadka Road in Udupi, you’ll find us at 288/641. This place is usually loud because of the crushers. There’s a lot of heavy machinery involved in what we do, and it kicks up a fair amount of grit and dust. We deal with a lot of raw stone and granite. It’s a big operation, and there’s always something moving, whether it’s a conveyor belt or a truck being loaded up. We spend most of our shift wearing boots and heavy clothes because it’s a rough environment. The ground is rarely level, and you have to watch where you’re walking with all the loose stone around. We’ve been at this spot for quite a while. The road gets busy with trucks taking material out to different sites. We don’t have much of an office, just a small place to sit and have a meal or do the basic logs. Most of the work happens outside. It gets pretty warm during the middle of the day, but there’s usually a bit of a breeze coming through. My crew knows the machines inside and out. We spend a lot of time on maintenance because the stone wears everything down pretty fast. It’s just the nature of the business. We keep the crushers running and make sure the granite is sorted the way it’s supposed to be. It’s a hard way to earn a living, but we’re used to the grit and the noise.
