About Sai Modern Rice Mill – Food & Beverages in Karimnagar
The mill is located at 5-70 in Narmala, over in Gambhiraopet. It’s a loud place when the machines are running, which is most of the time during the harvest season. We take the paddy that farmers bring in and turn it into rice. There’s a lot of dust in the air and the smell of grain is everywhere. I’ve been working with these machines for a long time now. They need a lot of oiling and care to keep going. We don't have any fancy signs or a big marketing team. People just know where we are because they see the trucks and the bags of rice. It’s a practical business. We focus on getting the husks off and making sure the grain is clean. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait around, which can be frustrating. My family helps out with the weighing and the bagging. It’s not a clean job, you usually go home covered in a bit of grit. But it’s important work for the farmers around here. We just try to keep the mill in good shape and help people get their crops processed so they can sell them or eat them. It is hard on the ears because of the noise, but we are used to it by now. The seasons change but the work at the mill stays pretty much the same every year. We just keep the gears turning and the rice flowing.
