Manemma Harvester

Down in Chilvakodur, which is part of Gollapalle in the Karimnagar district, you’ll find our spot at house number 3-34. We call it Manemma Harvester. It’s mainly about the big machines used for the crops. Farming is the main thing around here, so having a harvester ready is pretty important when the season hits. We spend a lot of time just doing maintenance, greasing parts, and making sure the engines don't fail in the middle of a field. The yard can get pretty messy with oil and metal scraps, but that’s part of the job. During harvest time, we are barely home. We go from one field to another, helping the farmers get their grain in before the rain comes. It’s a lot of long hours sitting in the cab or fixing things on the fly. When it’s not harvest season, things quiet down a lot. We mostly just sit around the shop at 3-34 and wait for someone to need a repair. Karimnagar gets very hot, so we try to do the heavy work in the early hours. I’ve lived in Chilvakodur all my life, so I know most of the land owners here. We aren't a big corporation or anything; it’s just a local service for the village. We just keep the machines running and hope for a good rain for the crops. There’s always something that needs a wrench or a hammer. It's tiring work but someone has to do it. We stay busy enough.
