We have been running Kumar Dal Mill for a good while now here in Village Sirsaganj. Our place is easy to spot since we are right on National Highway 2 in the Shikohabad area of Firozabad. It is mostly a family operation. The mill stays busy during the harvest months when the farmers bring in their pulses. We spend most of our days around the machines, cleaning and splitting different kinds of dal. The air gets a bit dusty, which is just part of the job when you work with grain. It’s not a shiny corporate office or anything like that. It’s a practical workspace with bags stacked up and equipment running. My grandfather actually started things in this area, and we just kept it going. We know the local farmers around here pretty well. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to wait, but that’s just how it is in the village. We handle the processing ourselves and make sure the bags are loaded onto the trucks correctly. People stop by because they know where we are on the main road. We don't do much advertising or anything. Most people just know our name from word of mouth. It's hard work, especially when the weather is hot, but it keeps us busy. We just focus on the daily tasks of milling and making sure the storage is dry. It's a straightforward business and it keeps us on our toes most of the year.
