You can find us in Karankata village, over in the Kokilabari area of Barpeta. We operate out of Palak Daimary’s place. It’s a local home where we set up a corner to handle all the business for our women farmers group. Being in a small village like this, everyone knows each other, so we don’t need any big signs on the door. We spend a lot of time talking to the women in the community about their crops and what they need for the next season. It is a practical way of working. We don't have a corporate office with air conditioning or anything like that. We just sit together, maybe on the porch or inside the main room, and go through the books. Barpeta has a lot of hardworking people, and we are just trying to help the farmers here get a bit more organized. Sometimes the work is slow, and sometimes it feels like there isn't enough time in the day. We handle the paperwork, talk to suppliers, and try to find the best way to move our products. It’s honest work, and it keeps us connected to the land. We aren't trying to impress anyone with fancy talk. We just want to make sure the farm work pays off for the families in Karankata. That’s what we do every day. It is simple, but it is ours and we keep going.
