Hotel Sundaram

We are right by the Dhaulpur Railway Station, so you can hear the trains coming and going all day. It’s not a quiet place, but it is handy if you’ve just gotten off a long ride and need a place to put your bags down. The building is older, and we keep things pretty basic here. There’s no big lobby or fancy carpets. Just some rooms with beds and bathrooms that work. My family has been running this for a while now. We spend most of our time cleaning up after guests and making sure the water is running. Sometimes the electricity goes out in the afternoon, but that’s just how it is around here. We try to keep things simple. Most people stay for a night or two before heading out to the next town. We don’t have a big kitchen, but there are plenty of spots to eat just outside the door. If you’re looking for a luxury stay, this isn’t it. But if you just want to sleep and be near the tracks, we’re here. The front desk is usually manned by one of us, even late at night when the express trains come in. We’ve seen all sorts of people pass through these doors over the years. It’s a lot of work keeping up with the laundry and the cleaning, but it keeps us busy. We just keep the doors open and do our bit to keep the place going as best as we can.
