Gunjan And Sidharth Shop

Our shop is in Ward No 7, Raruan, which is a quiet part of Mayurbhanj. We are located right near the Bank of India, so we see a lot of people coming and going when they have their bank work to do. Gunjan And Sidharth Shop is a modest place. We don’t have big neon signs or anything like that. It’s just a regular local shop where we sell things people need every day. My brother and I run the place mostly, and we take turns sitting at the front. The floor is made of plain cement and we have simple wooden shelves to hold our stock. In the afternoons, when it gets really hot, things slow down and we usually just sit on the bench outside and watch the goats wander by or talk to the neighbors. It’s a slow pace of life here in Raruan. We know almost everyone who walks through the door by their name, and often we know their parents too. When someone is short a few rupees, we just tell them to pay next time. That’s how things work in a small place like this. We don’t have a computer to track things, just a big ledger where we write everything down by hand. It is how we have always done things here and it works for us. The bank employees often come over for a snack or a chat during their break.
