We’re located at No 1 in Karaikudi, right near the Muthu Mariyamman Temple. You can’t miss the temple, and we’re just a short walk away. Being in Karaikudi, you’re surrounded by so much history and those old grand houses, so it’s a big deal to be doing architectural work here. We try to respect that traditional feel while still giving people the modern things they need, like proper wiring and kitchens that don't feel like they're from a hundred years ago. It’s a balance. The office is a bit small, and we’ve got drawings pinned all over the walls. It’s not very organized to an outsider, but we know exactly where every plan is. We spend a lot of time talking to the local masons and craftsmen because they know the stone and the wood better than anyone around. We don't do much in the way of fancy brochures. Usually, someone sees a house we worked on and asks who did the drawings. That’s how we’ve always operated. The bells from the temple are a nice background sound while we’re working on designs. It’s a hot place, so we spend a lot of time thinking about airflow and keeping houses cool without needing the AC on all day and night. We’re just local people who like building things that look right in our town and stay cool.
