Apj Foodstuff

Our shop is at No.32 on Nagappa Veethi Vistharippu. Melakalkandar Kottai is a quiet enough area but our street gets its share of movement during the day. We deal with foodstuff which means there are always lots of bags of rice and flour sitting around the floor. It smells like grain and dry lentils in here most of the time. The space is not huge so we have to stack things high up to the ceiling. You have to be very careful when pulling a bag from the bottom of the pile. I have been working here for a while now and the routine is the same every day. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint but they are fine for now. We get the morning crowd looking for breakfast items like sugar or tea. Then it slows down until the evening when people come back from work. We do not have a delivery van or anything fancy. People just come and carry their own bags to their homes. Sometimes we help them carry heavy sacks to their scooters if they are parked nearby. The fan hums all day long and it is the only sound when the shop is empty. It is mostly me and one other guy handling the stock. We do not use fancy software for the billing at the counter. It is mostly just paper and a pen. It works for us.
