Venpura Magalir Shg

In Poovam, which is over in Karaikal, you will find us, the Venpura Magalir Shg. This is a quiet place and most of us have lived here for as long as we can remember. We know every street and every family in the area. Our group isn't anything corporate or fancy. We are just women who thought that working together would make life a bit easier for everyone. Every few days we meet up to discuss our savings and any small jobs we can take on. Sometimes we make things to sell at the local market, and other times we just focus on helping a member who is having a hard time. We don't have an office, just a small porch or a room where we can sit. Because it gets so hot here, we usually wait until the evening to get together. We aren't looking to change the whole world. Our main goal is just to make enough to help with school books or to keep the kitchen running properly. It can be hard to find steady work in this area, so the group gives us something to do. We take things one day at a time and try to stay as positive as we can. It’s a simple life, but being part of this group makes it feel like we are moving forward. We just do our best with what we have and keep our heads held high. There is always someone to talk to when things get difficult, which is the best part of our group.
