We’ve been at Plot-143 for a while now. Peralam Road gets pretty busy during the day with all the traffic. Most mornings start with moving things around the yard. It's dusty work, and there is no way around that. Thennangudi isn't a huge place, so we know most of the people who walk in through our gates. Some days it’s just the sound of the ceiling fan spinning and someone looking at the various samples we have leaned up against the walls. We don't have any fancy displays here, just rows of what's available in the back. Sometimes the delivery truck is late because of traffic near the town center, and that’s just how it goes in this part of the country. We keep a big ledger on the main desk that’s been there forever. People come in with measurements for their floors scribbled on scraps of paper or the back of an envelope. We try to help them find what fits. It gets very hot in the afternoons, especially in the warehouse area where the air doesn't move much. We usually take a break around then and have some tea. If you’re driving down from the main junction, you’ll see our sign. It’s a bit faded from the sun but you can still read it. Sometimes the neighbors come by just to chat about the weather. We have a small kettle in the back. It isn't a high-tech operation, just us handling the stock.
