Delice Restaurant

Delice Restaurant is located at No 80 on Thirunallur Road in Karaikal. We are right near the famous Thirunallar Temple, which brings in a lot of people from out of town. We are also opposite Kalima Silks, so there are always shoppers walking across the street. Being in Pondicherry, or specifically Karaikal, the vibe is a bit different. It’s a coastal town, so it gets very humid and the sea air is everywhere. Our place is pretty straightforward. We have the usual tables and chairs, and we don't bother with much decoration. The focus is usually just on the kitchen and making sure we have enough ingredients for the day. Since the temple is so close, we see a lot of pilgrims who are just passing through. They are usually tired and looking for a place to sit for a bit. We also have our local regulars who come in from Thirunallur Road. It’s a busy street, and the noise of the bells and the traffic is constant. We spend our days mostly keeping up with the cleaning and the cooking. It is a lot of repetitive work, but we are used to it. We don't have any big corporate backing or anything. It’s just a local restaurant trying to provide a place to eat for the people visiting the temple or living in Karaikal. We just take it one day at a time. Every morning we sweep the front and get the coffee going for the early birds.
