Shubham Clinic

Out here in Pimpode BK, life moves at its own pace. Our clinic is right near Atma Hotel, which is how most people find us if they aren't from around here. Being in Pimpode Budruk means we see a lot of people who work on the land for a living. They come in with all kinds of stuff, usually after a long day of work when they finally have a moment to spare. It’s a simple building, nothing like the big glass hospitals you see in the cities. We have the basic equipment and a few chairs for people to sit on while they wait for the doctor. Sometimes it gets quite hot in the afternoons, but we keep the fans going as best we can. People stop by after they finish their errands at the post office or the market. It’s a very local atmosphere at Shubham Clinic. We talk about the weather and the crops as much as we talk about health or medicine. Most of the people who come in have been living in this village for their whole lives, so we know most families well. If someone is too sick to walk over, word usually gets to us somehow through a neighbor. We don't have fancy systems or a front desk with a computer. We just use paper files and remember faces. It’s a practical way of doing things. We’re just here to help out our neighbors and make sure everyone in the village stays reasonably healthy throughout the year. It's a quiet but good life.
