Shree Gurudatta Granite

Down here at 3, Shukrawar Peth in Satara, things move at their own pace. Shree Gurudatta Granite is a local fixture. We deal with a lot of heavy lifting every single day. The granite comes in big slabs, and it’s our job to make sure it gets where it needs to go. We’ve got a small crew of guys who have been with us for years. Satara is a nice place to work, though it can get pretty humid. The yard at Shukrawar Peth is usually full of different colors of stone. We don't do much advertising; mostly people just know we're here. You walk in and you'll probably see someone covered in grey dust or working a saw. It's not the kind of place where you wear a suit. We talk to the contractors and the homeowners who are just trying to finish their projects. Sometimes we sit out front when things are quiet. There’s a lot of history in this part of town, and we like being part of the local scene. We don't have a fancy showroom. We just have the stone. We show you the actual piece you’re getting, not some small sample from a book. It’s more practical that way. Handling granite is tough on the hands, but there is a certain rhythm to it that we all appreciate. It's just what we do to keep the shop going year after year.
