Ritika International

Working out of Golden Avenue in New Vishavkarma Nagar feels pretty grounded. Ritika International is right here on Plahi Road, which is a fairly busy stretch. You can always hear the traffic passing by outside. We started this because we wanted something of our own. The building isn't anything special to look at, just a regular brick and mortar setup that fits everything we need. Most of the day is spent handling shipments and talking to suppliers. It gets a bit hectic when a big delivery arrives and we have to find space for everything. The floors are often covered with boxes and packing tape. We don’t have a receptionist or a big lobby. Usually, if someone knocks, one of us just gets up from whatever we’re doing to see who it is. We drink a lot of tea to stay awake during the slow hours in the mid-afternoon. It’s a small team, so everyone ends up doing a bit of everything, from cleaning the windows to writing down orders. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a bit over the years, more shops opening up and the road getting paved again. It’s a good spot for us. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing. It’s not glamorous, but it’s our living and we take it one day at a time. We are just happy to have a steady place to work every morning.
