Laxmi Rice Mill

Laxmi Rice Mill is situated on the main road in Nautanwa, not far from the post office. We are part of the Maharajgunj district, which is a place where everyone knows the importance of a good harvest. Our mill is a pretty large building, but it always feels a bit cramped once the rice starts coming in. We have big old machines that make a lot of noise and vibration when they’re running. The air is always thick with the smell of rice husk and dust. We don’t have any air conditioning, so it gets quite hot in the summer months. We just use big industrial fans to keep the air moving a bit. It’s a very practical operation. We don’t have a front desk or any staff in suits. You’ll usually find us in our working clothes, covered in a bit of dust. We deal directly with the farmers and the local traders. There’s no fancy talk here, just talk about the quality of the grain and the weight of the bags. We’ve been at this for many years now. The building is showing its age, but it’s sturdy enough for the work we do. We don’t have a big marketing budget or anything like that. We just rely on the fact that we’ve been on this main road for a long time. People know where we are and they know how we work. It’s a steady, simple business for us.
