Niranjan Hospital

People in Thuckalay usually know where we are at Mettukadai, right by the main road. Niranjan Hospital has been here quite a while now. It started small. We mostly just deal with the folks who walk in because they aren’t feeling right or had a small accident at home. The building isn't brand new or anything, but we keep the floors clean and the fans running. It gets pretty busy in the mornings when the sun is just coming up. You’ll see a lot of people waiting on the benches. We have some doctors who have been here for years and they know most of the families around here by name. Sometimes the power goes out, but we have a backup generator that kicks in after a minute. It makes a loud noise, but it gets the job done. We don't have fancy coffee machines in the waiting area, just a water cooler that usually works. If you need a bandage or some medicine for a fever, this is where you come. My cousin actually worked in the pharmacy for a bit before moving to the city. It’s a busy place, especially on Mondays. The parking can be a bit tight out front if you bring a big car, so most people just come on their bikes. We try to keep things moving so nobody sits there all day. It’s just a regular place for regular people needing some help with their health. Nothing too complicated about it. We’re just here at number 20/23.
