M.S.S. Asan & Son

M.S.S. Asan & Son is located at 12/1, Malaratha Veethi, right by South Car Street in Nagercoil. This is a family business that has been around for quite a long time. You can feel the history when you walk into the shop. The walls have some old photos, and the shelves are packed with all sorts of things. We’ve stayed in this same spot because it’s where our customers know to find us. Being near the South Car Street means it gets very busy during festival times, which we always enjoy. We mostly sell traditional items and general goods that the local community needs. My son helps me out now, and he’s learning the ropes just like I did from my father. We don't have a computer system for everything; we still write many things down by hand in big ledgers. It works for us. We know most of the families who come in here, and we usually spend a few minutes catching up on local news while we pack their items. It’s a simple way of doing business, but it’s honest and it has kept us going for generations. We don't need a website or social media to tell people who we are. They just see the sign and walk through the door. That’s enough for us. Sometimes the old wooden door squeaks, but we haven't bothered to fix it yet.
