Coffee Shop

Our shop is right across from the Police Bank in Sathi Nagar. We didn't spend much time thinking of a name, so we just called it Coffee Shop. It tells people exactly what they’re getting. It’s a small space, mostly just a counter and a few stools. The morning rush is the hardest part of the day. Everyone wants their coffee at exactly the same time before they head to work. We have a large metal boiler that stays hot all day. The steam makes the air thick. Sometimes we run out of change in the drawer and have to ask the neighbor shop for coins. It’s a bit disorganized at times, especially when we’re cleaning the filters. We don't have a big staff, just two of us usually. We know the police officers from across the street pretty well by now. They come in for a break and tell us about their day. We don't have fancy decorations or anything. Just some old calendars on the wall. The floor is concrete and we wash it down every evening. It’s a basic life, but we like being in Sathi Nagar. People here are friendly. We just keep the coffee flowing and try to remember everyone's name. It’s a simple business for simple people. We keep the doors open as long as there is light outside and the people keep coming in.
