Gs Spices

Out here in Village Jhankripali, things move a bit slower than they do in the bigger towns. We are located at Post Phulkimunda, which is under Thana Lathor in the Khaprakhol tehsil. Most people just look for the Hari Shankar Mandir to find their way around, and we aren't far from those temple gates at all. Gs Spices is a small operation where we deal with the local crops and the spices that people in this part of Odisha use every day. The morning starts with unloading sacks and checking what the farmers have brought in. It can get quite hot in the afternoons, so we try to get the heavy lifting done early while it’s still cool. You can hear the birds from the trees nearby and sometimes the sound of bells from the Mandir when there is a puja going on. We don't have a big corporate setup or anything. It's just a couple of rooms where the grinding happens and a place to store the bags. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just sit outside and wait for it to come back. Living and working in a village like this means everyone knows everyone. We just focus on the task at hand, whether it is cleaning turmeric or packing pepper. It is simple work, but it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. There isn't much else to say about it.
