Zafar Alam International

Colonelganj is a neighborhood with a lot of history and a lot of activity. Zafar Alam International is located at 96/15, N Colonelganj. It’s an old building, the kind with thick walls and small windows that don't let much light in. The office is tucked away, and it’s usually quiet inside compared to the street noise outside. We do a lot of international work from here, which sounds fancy, but it’s really just a lot of emailing and checking schedules on old computers that take a while to boot up. The furniture is heavy wood, and the tea comes in small glasses twice a day from the shop around the corner. We spend hours looking at samples and checking shipping manifests. Sometimes the internet is slow, and we just have to wait it out or find something else to do. The neighborhood has its own rhythm, with the vegetable sellers and the kids playing in the lane. We aren’t a big corporate firm with a glass lobby. It’s just a few rooms filled with files and the sound of an old fan that wobbles. It’s dusty, and the paint is peeling in the corners, but it’s where the work gets done. We know the neighbors, and they know us. It’s a practical setup for the kind of business we run, and we don’t see much point in changing it now.
