Winsome Textile

Winsome Textile is located in Kanpur, right at House Number 119 in Barasirohi. It’s a regular house where we handle our textile work. Kanpur is a big city for fabric, so there is always something happening in the markets. We keep things pretty simple here. We have rolls of cloth and different materials stored in the rooms. Most of the day is spent checking the quality of the thread or talking to the weavers. It’s a bit dusty because of all the fabric fibers in the air, but we are used to it by now. The neighborhood is quiet compared to the main city center. We don’t have a big shop front with lights. Most people find us through word of mouth or by looking for the house number. My family has been around this area for a long time. We start the work early when the light is good. Textiles require a lot of attention to detail, so we spend hours just looking at patterns and colors. It’s not a high-tech operation. We use old-fashioned methods for a lot of things. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just have to wait it out. We eat our meals together in the small kitchen in the back. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning till late evening. We don't need much else. The sewing machines make a steady rhythm that we have grown to love over the years.
