Our place, Hindustan Agarbatti Udyog, is at 128/54 Virat Nagar. We are very close to Vrindavan Lawn, so if there is a wedding or a big party going on there, we hear all the music and see the bright lights. The business is mainly about the scents we produce. As soon as you walk towards our door, you can smell the different sticks we are working on that day. It’s a strong smell that stays on your clothes even after you leave. We have a few rooms where the mixing and drying happens. It is a very hands-on process. We have a small team of local people who help us out every day. We don't have big automated machines for everything; a lot of it is done by hand and by feel. The floors are often covered in a fine powder from the ingredients we use. We have racks and racks of sticks sitting out to dry in the air. It is a messy job but we have a system that works for us. We have been in Virat Nagar for some time and the neighbors are used to the smell by now. We don't have a big corporate logo or a fancy office for meetings. It is just a workshop where we get things done. We spend most of our time checking the quality and packing things into brown boxes. It's a simple life and a simple business for us.
