Swagat Saree

Swagat Saree is located at J 35 in the HIG World Bank area of Barra. It’s a well-known part of the locality, and we’ve been here long enough that most of the regulars know exactly where to find us. The shop is simple and practical. We have sarees stacked on the shelves from floor to ceiling. It can be a bit overwhelming if you aren't used to seeing so much fabric in one place. We don't have any fancy air conditioning or bright neon signs. It’s just a regular shop in Barra. We spend most of our time showing different pieces to customers who come in. Sometimes they stay for an hour just looking at the different patterns. We don't mind. It’s part of the business. The World Bank area can get quite busy in the evenings when everyone is out shopping. We try to keep things tidy, but with so many sarees being unfolded and refolded, it’s a constant job. We are just local people trying to provide something useful to the neighborhood. We don't have a corporate office or a marketing department. It’s just us behind the counter. We’ve seen kids grow up in this neighborhood and now they come in to buy sarees for their own weddings. It’s nice to be part of that history.
