Sanjay Saree Centre

You can find Sanjay Saree Centre on Lal Banglow St, which is part of the Lal bangla area near Krishna Nagar. It’s a street that has a lot of history and I’ve been working out of this shop for a good while. The space is a bit narrow, so we have to be careful about how we stack the saree boxes. If we aren't careful, the whole pile could tip over. I mostly handle the customers myself. We don’t have any of those fancy mannequins in the window, just a couple of hangers and the sunlight hitting the front glass. Krishna Nagar is a busy place, and Lal Banglow St gets its fair share of people walking through. I usually open up around mid-morning after I’ve finished my errands at home. The shop has a particular smell of new cloth and a little bit of incense that I burn in the corner every day. Sometimes my friends from the neighboring shops stop by to chat about the local news or the weather. It’s a very local atmosphere. We don't have a website or anything like that; we just rely on people seeing the sign when they walk by. It’s a simple way of doing things, but it’s worked for us so far. I like the routine of it, even on the slow days when I just sit and watch the street and the people passing by on their way to work.
