Sahu Provision Store

Sahu Provision Store has been a part of Chamanganj for a long time. Our address is 105/592, Chamanganj Road, right near the Chandrika Devi Mandir. Having the temple nearby is nice because we get to see all the people going for prayers. We sell the usual household stuff that everyone needs. Flour, lentils, spices, and soaps fill up most of our space. The shop is located in Kanpur 208001, which is a busy area with lots of narrow lanes. We’ve had to reorganize the shelves many times to make everything fit. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than two people are inside. I usually stand behind the wooden counter all day. I have a small stool, but I rarely get to sit on it. The floor is made of old cement and it’s worn down in the spots where people stand the most. We don't have a big sign or anything flashy. People just know we are here. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to use a torch to find things in the back. It’s just how things are in this part of the city. We don't mind the extra work. I like the routine of opening up, sweeping the front, and waiting for the first customer of the morning. It’s a quiet life despite the noise of the street. We just provide what the neighborhood needs.
