Raju General Store.

Raju General Store is sitting at 105/263, Gandhi Chwok on P. Road in Kanpur. We are very close to Salona Bakery, so the smell of fresh bread often drifts into our shop in the mornings. That is one of the best parts about being located here in 208012. I have been running this place for years. It’s a standard general store. We have sacks of rice, different types of pulses, and all the small household items like light bulbs or batteries. The shop is a bit cramped because I try to keep everything people might ask for. Sometimes I trip over a box of biscuits that hasn't been unpacked yet. My hands are usually a bit dusty from handling the grain bags. It’s hard work, but I like talking to the neighbors. They come in not just to buy things but to complain about the heat or the rain. We have a small wooden counter where I keep the ledger. I still write everything down by hand. It feels more natural that way. The lights inside aren't very bright, but we know our way around. If someone needs a kilo of sugar, I can weigh it out even if I’m tired. Gandhi Chwok is a busy place, but once you step inside, it's just the sound of the ceiling fan. We aren't trying to be anything more than a local shop for the people living nearby.
