Raj Laxmi Tradings

Raj Laxmi Tradings is located at No. 113/134 in Swaroop Nagar, right inside the Ghantaghar Market. If you know the market, you know it’s a bit of a maze and easy to get lost in. We’ve been in this specific spot for years and years. It’s a trading business, so we buy and sell different things depending on what people are asking for that month. The shop is filled with sacks and boxes piled high. We don’t have much space for walking around or sitting. Most of the time we are just sitting on the wooden stools talking to other traders or customers. It’s a loud place with people shouting and carts moving around all morning. We don't have a computer system that does everything for us. We use big ledgers and pens and keep it simple. It works for us and we haven't changed it. Sometimes the rain leaks through the front a bit if it's really heavy, so we have to move the stock back quickly. We aren't some big modern corporation with fancy offices. We are just local traders making a decent living. My father started this business, and now I’m here doing the same thing. We know most of the faces in the market and we help each other out. It’s a tight community. We don’t use fancy language or have board meetings. We just trade. If the price is right and the quality is okay, we do the deal. That’s how it’s always been.
