Pustak Bhawan

Pustak Bhawan has been around 7/199 in Swaroop Nagar for a while now. It’s a bit of a walk from the main road, but people seem to find their way here eventually. The shop is basically just one large room filled with metal racks. We carry a lot of competitive exam books because that is what most of the youngsters around here are looking for. I remember when we first opened, we only had a couple of shelves. Now, it's hard to move around without bumping into a stack of papers. We try to keep the place organized, but it’s a constant battle against the mess. Sometimes a customer asks for something very specific, and we have to dig through the boxes in the corner. The fan on the ceiling makes a clicking noise, which can be annoying if you stay too long. We don't have a big sign outside, just a small one near the entrance. Most of the people who come here live nearby or are students at the local coaching centers. It’s a steady pace of work. We aren't trying to be the biggest store in town. We just want to make sure the kids have the books they need for their exams. On Sundays, we close early to get some rest. It’s a modest setup, but it serves the purpose and pays the bills for our small family.
