Pushpendra General Store

My shop is right here on Bamba Road in Gumti No-5. I’ve been sitting in this same spot for quite a while now. It’s a busy area in Kanpur, especially with all the noise from 80 Feet Road nearby. Most days I’m just arranging packets of biscuits or counting how many soaps are left on the shelf. The space isn't very big but we fit a lot in here. People from the local houses come in every morning for their basic stuff. Sometimes the traffic outside gets really loud and it’s hard to hear what someone is asking for. My family helps me out when things get crowded in the evenings. We don't have fancy lights or anything, just the usual tube lights and some old fans. Most of the regulars know me by name and we talk about the weather or the local news while I pack their bags. I try to keep everything stocked so people don't have to walk too far to another market. It gets a bit dusty being so close to the road, but that's just how it is around here. I keep a ledger for the accounts and sometimes I forget where I put my glasses. It’s a simple life. We open early before the sun gets too hot and stay until the street lights are on. It’s just a regular store for everyday people living around Gumti No-5.
