Pandey General Store

Pandey General Store is situated at 198/9 in the Shastri Nagar area of Kanpur. We are quite close to Durga Puja Park, so we get a lot of people who are out for a walk or taking their kids to play. I usually open up in the morning after finishing my own chores at home. The shop is filled with everything from soap and shampoo to bags of flour and pulses. I like to keep the snacks and chocolates where the children can see them. During the summer, it gets really hot in Kanpur, so I have a small table fan that barely does the job. I spend a lot of time talking to the neighbors who stop by for a loaf of bread or some eggs. The park nearby makes this a nice spot, especially in the evenings when it’s a bit cooler. I have to manage the stock carefully because the space is limited and I don't want things to expire. Sometimes the distributor doesn't show up on time and I have to make a few phone calls to see where they are. It is just a modest general store that has been around for a while. There is nothing special about the way we do things, just keeping the shelves full and the floor clean for the customers. It’s a steady routine that starts early and ends when the park empties out and I lock the door.
