Om Sai Nath General Store

Running the Om Sai Nath General Store here at Maruti Estate Chauraha is just what we do every day. It’s been a while since we set up shop in Kanpur, and honestly, the neighborhood has changed a lot. We mostly just keep the shelves filled with whatever people ask for when they walk in. Sometimes the morning rush gets a bit much, especially with everyone stopping by on their way to work, but we manage. You’ll find the usual things like tea, soap, and snacks. My nephew helps out sometimes when things get busy in the evenings. We try to keep things organized but it’s a small space, so things get stacked where they fit. It isn't anything fancy, just a corner store where you can grab what you forgot to buy at the big market. Most of our regulars live right around the corner, so we know their faces well. We open up pretty early because people need their milk and bread. Dealing with suppliers is a bit of a headache sometimes, but that’s just part of the job. If we don’t have something today, we usually try to get it by next week. It’s just us here, working through the day and making sure the lights stay on. It’s simple work, but it keeps us busy and we like being part of the street life here in 208001.
