Naushad Leather Finishers

Our business, Naushad Leather Finishers, is located at 30-A on Edgah Road in Jajmau. If you know this part of town, you know it is all about the leather. We have been here doing finishing work for a long time. The workshop isn't much to look at from the outside, but inside we are always busy with something. We get the leather after it has been tanned and then we start the process of making it look right. It involves a lot of buffing and spraying and checking for spots that didn't take the color correctly. The air in here is usually thick with the scent of finishes and dyes. It gets hot in the afternoons, especially when the machines have been running for hours without a break. We usually have tea together in the morning before the real heavy work starts. There are piles of leather everywhere you look. We try to keep things organized but when a big order comes in, the whole floor gets covered pretty quickly. We are just regular people working hard to make a living in the Jajmau area. We don't use any fancy technology, just our hands and the machines we have used for decades. It is a straightforward job and we take it one day at a time. The neighbors on Edgah Road are mostly doing similar work, so we all understand the hustle and the long hours needed. Sometimes we stay late when a shipment has to be ready by morning. It’s just the way it goes in this business.
