Our shop is just one of many in this row, but we have a steady stream of regulars who stop by. It’s a bit cramped inside because we keep a lot of stock on hand. There’s always someone coming in to ask for something or just to have a quick chat about the day. We don’t go in for fancy displays or bright lights. The shelves are wooden and old, but they hold everything we need. The floor gets a bit worn out from all the walking, but we don't mind. Most of our work is just handling the daily transactions and making sure we have enough items for the next day. The market can be a bit overwhelming if you aren't used to it, especially on the weekends. We open early in the morning and stay until the shutters go down in the evening. There’s no big corporate structure here; it’s just us working the counter and talking to suppliers. Sometimes the tea man comes around and we take a short break. It’s a traditional way of doing business. We know the other shopkeepers around 50/15 and we all look out for each other. It’s a community. It gets hot in the summer with no big AC, but we have fans.
