Meenashi Stores

We are over at Shop No 50 in the Kda Market on Canal Road. This is Lajpat Nagar in Kanpur. We are pretty close to the J K Mandir, which is a very big landmark in this area. Meenashi Stores is a simple place. We’ve been here for many years now. We sell mostly groceries and all kinds of things for the kitchen. It’s a busy market area, so there’s always a lot of noise and people moving around outside. Our shop isn't very big, so we have to use every bit of space we have. We have bags of rice and pulses sitting on the floor sometimes because the shelves are full. It’s just how it is when you have to keep a lot of stock in a small room. We know most of the people who come in to shop. They’ve been buying from us since they were little kids. Kanpur can be very dusty and hot in the summer, so we keep the ceiling fan going all day long. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights. Just items on the shelves where people can see them. It’s an honest way for us to make a living. We open up early and we don't leave until the last customer is gone at night. That's just the way we have always run things here. We don't use computers much, mostly just paper and pens for our daily accounts. It works for us and our customers seem happy with it.
