Maestro Architects

Our place, Maestro Architects, is over at 252 Panki Road inside the Subhash Singh Market area. It is right near the Gayatri Mandir, so you can often hear the bells ringing in the morning when we first open up the shutters for the day. The office is not very big and we have a lot of old files stacked up in the corners because there is never enough shelf space for everything we collect. We do our work on these big drafting tables that take up most of the room and leave very little space for walking around. Kalyanpur is a busy part of town and there is always something going on right outside our window, mostly traffic and people shouting. Sometimes it is hard to concentrate with the noise, but we have gotten used to it over the years. We spend most of our time drawing up plans for shops or houses that people in the area want to build. It’s a lot of back and forth with the people who come in. They usually have a rough idea on a scrap of paper and we try to turn it into something a builder can actually follow without getting confused. We don't have any fancy coffee machines here, just a small stove in the back for making chai. The floor is tiled but some of them are cracked from years of use. It is just a practical space for practical work. We usually stay late most nights to finish up.
