Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital

Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital is part of the G.S.V.M. Medical College campus, so it is a very large and busy place. There are always students in white coats running around and doctors heading to different wards. Because it is a teaching hospital, there is a lot going on at all hours of the day and night. The hallways are long and can be a bit confusing if you are not used to the layout of the medical college. It is an older institution, so the buildings have that heavy, solid feel to them. We see a huge number of people every single day. Some come from very far away because they know this is where the medical college is. It can get very loud and crowded in the main areas, with families waiting and trolleys being pushed past. The air smells like antiseptic and old paper. It is not a place for peace and quiet, but it is a place where a lot of work gets done. We have different departments for just about everything you can think of. The staff and the students are always busy, and sometimes it feels a bit like a maze. We try to keep things moving as best as we can, but with so many patients, there is always a bit of a rush. It is a major part of the area and everyone knows where the medical college is located. It is just a big, working hospital for the public.
