We have our workshop and display area at No. 106/369 on Kanti Road. It is quite close to the Dairy Chokhi landmark, which most people know. Universal Furniture is a place where you can always smell sawdust and polish. We have been working with wood for quite some time now. The shop is often a bit dusty, but that is expected when you are making tables and cupboards all day. We have various pieces of furniture sitting around in different stages of being finished. Some are just frames and others are ready to go out to customers. We don't have a fancy showroom with bright lights and salesmen. Instead, we have a practical space where you can see how things are actually made by hand. The noise of the saws and sanders is pretty constant during the working hours. We are a small team and most of us have lived in this area for many years. People from the neighborhood stop by to ask for repairs or to get something custom made for their homes. We don't follow big trends; we just make stuff that is solid and lasts a long time. Sometimes we run out of space because of a big order, and things spill out onto the pavement a bit. It is a busy place, especially on the weekends when people are off work and have time to browse. We just keep our heads down and keep building. It is simple, honest labor and we are proud of the pieces we put together.
