Kamal General Store

Kamal General Store is situated at 104 A/209, right near Gopal Cinema on P. Road in the Sisamau area of Kanpur. If you have been to this part of Kanpur, you know how crowded and loud it can get. Our shop is right in the thick of it. We have been here for many years and have seen the cinema change and the streets get busier. We sell all kinds of general items like notebooks, pens, toiletries, and small snacks. It is the kind of place where you can find those little things you forgot to buy at the big market. The shop is quite small and the walls are covered in shelves from floor to ceiling. We often have to use a long stick to get items down for people. There is no air conditioning, just a ceiling fan that hums all day. We talk to the people who walk in and we know many of them for years. It is a very local way of doing business. We do not have any big mission or polished way of speaking. We just tell people the price and give them their change. Sometimes the deliveries are delayed because the roads are so narrow, but we always find a way to keep the shelves full. It is just life in Sisamau. We stay open until the movie crowds go home. It is a long day but it is what we do.
