Jaiswal General Merchant

Jaiswal General Merchant is situated right at the Vishnpuri Churaha in Kanpur. It is a very active spot because of the crossing. Navab Ganj is nearby too. We have been here for years, serving the people who live in the colonies around here. Our shop is where you go when you need anything from a light bulb to a bag of flour. We try to keep a bit of everything because you never know what someone might ask for. Sometimes a student from the nearby hostels comes in for a quick snack or some stationery. Other times it is a housewife looking for specific spices. The traffic at the churaha can be quite a headache, with all the honking and the dust, but we don't mind it much anymore. It's just part of the day. We have a few racks outside for the more popular items. Inside, it’s a bit dark but we know exactly where every single item is kept. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us managing the counter and the stock. We close up for a bit in the afternoon when it’s too hot, and then stay open until late at night. We don't really have a big story to tell. We just run the shop, talk to the neighbors, and try to make sure we have what people need. It’s just a regular local business and we’ve been doing this for a long time now.
