Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT)

This is the R&D Office, Account-2, over here at IIT Kanpur. It’s located within the main campus, so we get to see a lot of students and faculty walking by every day. The office is mostly full of files, ledgers, and a few old computers that have seen better days. We handle a lot of the paperwork side of the research projects, which means our desks are usually covered in forms and receipts. It’s a quiet corner of the institute compared to the labs or the lecture halls. There’s a big tree right outside the window that provides some nice shade in the afternoon. We have a small group working here, and we’ve all been in these roles for quite some time. The tea lady comes by twice a day, and that’s usually when we take our only real breaks. It’s not a fancy corporate setting; it’s an academic administrative office through and through. We deal with a lot of numbers and signatures. Sometimes the printers act up right when we need to finish a report, which can be frustrating. We try to keep things organized, but with so many projects going on, there’s always a stack of papers waiting for someone’s attention. It’s a steady pace of work. We aren't researchers ourselves, just the ones making sure the accounts for the research are kept in order. It’s a nice enough place to spend the day, and we've all gotten quite comfortable with the daily routine.
