Gupta Provision Store.

We have been running Gupta Provision Store on Shiv Katra Road for a long time. It’s located in Lal Bangla, Kanpur, and we are right near Lovely Salon. It’s just a basic shop where we sell things like lentils, rice, soaps, and snacks. Most of our customers are people from the houses around here. They come in the morning for bread and milk, and it gets quite busy in the evenings when everyone is coming back from work. The shelves aren't always perfectly tidy, but we know where everything is kept. My father started this business many years ago, and now I handle most of the daily work. The Kanpur weather can be quite dusty, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the counters and the glass jars. We don't have a big fancy sign, just the name written on the board outside. Sometimes the delivery trucks arrive a bit late, and we have to tell our regular customers to come back the next day. We keep a handwritten notebook for the neighbors who pay at the end of the month. It is a very simple neighborhood shop. There is nothing promotional or corporate about how we work. If we run out of a particular brand of tea, we try to get it by the next week. The street outside is usually full of bikes and people walking. We open early and close quite late at night. Sometimes my nephew helps out after school. We have a few jars of sweets for the kids. It’s hard work standing all day, but we've known these people for years.
