Being located at 240 in Poor House Colony means we are right in the middle of a very busy neighborhood. Girish Stores has been here for a long time, and we've seen kids grow up and start coming in with their own children now. The building is older, and the paint might be peeling in a few spots, but it serves its purpose just fine. We open up pretty early in the morning because that’s when people realize they ran out of milk or bread. It’s mostly a one-room shop filled with bags of grain, packets of spices, and household items. We don't use any computers for our sales, just a notebook and a pen to write down what people owe or what we need to buy next week. The colony gets crowded in the evenings, and sometimes it's hard to find a place to park a scooter outside our door. We spend a lot of time dusting the shelves because the street outside is always busy. There isn't much space to move around when the delivery guys bring in the new sacks of rice. We just pile them up in the corner and work around them. It's not a polished place with bright lights. We use a few old tube lights that hum a bit when they've been on too long. It’s just a normal local shop where we know most of our customers by their first names.
